16 Days of Action- Clare’s Law

Under this scheme Lincolnshire Police may be able to give you information about someone’s past, that could help you make a decision for the future.

Clare’s Law means you, or someone who is worried for you, can ask the police to check whether a current or ex-partner has a record of violence or abuse. This is the “Right to Ask”. Disclosures of information are made only to the person who is potentially at risk of domestic abuse.

The “Right to Know” enables police to make a disclosure on their own initiative if they receive information about the violent or abusive behaviour of an individual. This could be information arising from a criminal investigation, through statutory or third sector agency involvement, or from another source of police intelligence.

You can make an application here: https://www.lincs.police.uk/rqo/request/ri/request-information/cl/triage/v2/request-information-under-clares-law/
