I am a Senior Women’s Support Practitioner for Women RISE, providing support for women in Lincolnshire who are vulnerable to entering or re-entering the criminal justice system.
I have a BA Hons in Professional Studies, Childhood and Youth Work, and previously designed and facilitated a project supporting young adults to move forward with their lives through an alternative program of work experience and bespoke support plans. My background includes working with families in crisis and supporting young adults displaying risk taking behaviour.
I am passionate about gender specific services and the provision of trauma informed, women only opportunities, where the women in our county can access all the services they need in a safe space without having to repeat their story. Women RISE gives us the opportunity and scope to take the women’s centre where it is needed across the whole county and we work closely with other agencies to ensure the best possible support is in place.
I was inspired to join LAT to make a real difference in an area of service that has been missing in Lincolnshire, removing barriers, empowering women to grow and achieve their goals
I am a Women’s Support Practitioner offering support and guidance to women who require support in areas such as Accommodation, Relationships, Personal Wellbeing, Health, Debt and Finances and Lifestyle.
I obtained my Criminology BA (Hons) degree at York St John University. During my time studying criminology at university, I covered a lot of subject specific to women such as the effectiveness of female prisons in the UK and studies such as the Corston Report. I joined Lincolnshire Actions Trust as part of Women RISE to enable me to have a positive effect of women that are or at risk of entering the criminal justice system to help improve their lives.
The work my colleagues and I do within Women RISE is new within Lincolnshire and we are the first women’s centre to be operating. I am very passionate about the work RISE would like to achieve, allowing a woman another chance and support through different aspects of their life such as a court hearing or navigating a negative relationship which can be complex and scary for some. RISE allows a woman the best opportunity to identifying appropriate services specific to their needs.
Claire is the Head of Community Services and is responsible for supporting the teams delivering services across Lincolnshire. She joined LAT as she was inspired by the charity’s ethos and genuine passion of everyone and is excited to see first-hand how people overcome their challenges to live full lives.
She gained a master’s degree in Charity Leadership and has worked in the charitable sector for 20 years, including senior management roles in a local grassroots charity and a national housing charity for people with convictions.
“The most rewarding part of my job is knowing my contribution has made a tangible difference. This is especially true when the work I am involved in is having a significant impact on people’s lives, bringing hope and a confidence that the future can be good.”
I am the Women’s Centre Administrator for the Women RISE project. My role includes handling referrals, being a first point of contact for women accessing the service, as well as admin and daily office tasks.
I obtained my BA (Hons) degree in History before joining LAT. What motivated me to join LAT was the hands-on approach to making positive change to both individuals and the community. I try to spread a positive attitude throughout my role and the most rewarding part of the job is feeling inspired by the women that Women RISE work with.
