World Mental Health Day takes place on 10th October. The World Federation of Mental Health has set this year’s theme as workplace mental health.
Work can have a huge impact on our mental health, both positively and negatively. While it can be a source of stress and anxiety, it is also a huge opportunity to connect with others and provides a sense of purpose. Some interesting statistics are:
- 15% of UK workers are estimated to have an existing mental health condition
- Mental health was the 5th most common reason for sickness absence in 2022.
An important part of creating a mentally healthy workplace is supporting open conversations about mental health. This is something that we are passionate about at Women RISE. In both our interactions with colleagues and clients, we promote a safe and inclusive space to discuss mental health.
On World Mental Health Day, we will be running a special Tea and Talk group session at our Lincoln RISE group. Join us in wearing green ribbons to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
